A new eyeopener on the famous history of the Dornier Wal flying boat
The new hardcover book "Dornier Wal a Light coming over the Sea from Pisa around the world" consists of 272 pages (A4) with more than 300 fotos and unique documents.
It tells the worldwide history of the Dornier Wal, the german flying boat originally from Marina di Pisa, Italy.
The new concept Claude Dornier developed after 1918 for a monohulled and modular designed aircraft that was incredibly stable due to the characteristic sponsons and durable metal construction.
No other German aircraft had such international success. The Wal was instrumental in the making of the Dornier company during the 1920's and 1930's.
The Dornier Wal has been used for civil and military purposes all over the world.
And thanks to pioneer pilots, such as Antonio Locatelli, Roald Amundsen, Ramon Franco, Wolfgang von Gronau and many others, the Dornier Wal also performed outstandingly in coastal, insular environments, polar expeditions and ocean crossings.
As the Light beam over the Sea announced the arrival of the Wal, may this book give a new Light on a pivotal aircraft in worldwide aviation history.
